Eat Your Vegetables And Like Them
We all hear that we need to eat plenty of vegetables and use super foods for better health and that it helps with weight loss. It is also a known fact that the minerals you need for good health are in your vegetables.
If you do not get enough minerals, which often come from your intake of fruits and vegetables, your body cannot ward off disease and begins a downward spiral into bad health.
Eat Your Vegetables?
I do see some people who do not eat vegetables, and will not even eat fresh vegetables, if they can help it. Maybe you know someone like this yourself. Maybe it is you!
Maybe it all started as a toddler, when you did not like certain tastes and moved into a battle of wills with your parents as you got older, to avoid things you thought you would not like.
However, these foods contain your minerals. You will not get all the minerals you need from taking most vitamin/mineral tablets, (Superfood powders are much better for upping your nutrition) you need to eat plenty of fruit and vegetables for their sources of nutrients, fiber and health building properties.
Here Is Al’s Story
Let me tell you a story and you can use my imaginary instructions to him for your self, if you have this same dislike for vegetables.
I was at someone’s house the other day. Let’s call him Al. Previously I had suggested a super food powder even though during the conversation I heard that Al does not like vegetables.
So being at Al’s house, I find the man was taking his super food powder reluctantly. Actually he first stalled getting his super food drink when his wife said it was time to take it for about an hour. Then he was complaining the whole time he made it and drank it. Al said something to the effect that he was not a cow and did not like cow food.
Actually I did not say much, but tried to joke him through it a little. In retrospect, I would like to have had the following conversation:
I hear you Al. You just don’t like those vegetables and leafy green vegetables I have suggested. They don’t taste good to you. You would rather have your sweets. You know that veggies are good for you, but you just can’t seem to get used to eating them and have trouble motivating yourself. Let me help you here. Did you know that ….
You think in pictures
Did you know that you think in pictures? You are motivated by the things that you want to move away from that might cause emotions you don’t want such as pain, grief, anger etc. Your cancer is certainly something you want to move away from.
You are also motivated by the things you want to move towards. Emotions that would go with this are feeling happy, satisfied, loved, forgiven, respected, etc.
Move away from or move towards. These two ways you are motivated are the key to help you get past your dislike of vegetables. Really most things in life, if you think about it Al…
Decide which type you are. Which are you most motivated by? Do you put moving away foremost in your mind or moving toward?
Ready to start? Grab some vegetables or leafy green vegetables… Look at them, feel them, taste them, chew on them. Snap them, break them up and hear the crunchiness. Smell them. Involve as many of your senses as you can.
While doing that, do one of two things:
If motivated by what you are moving away from:
Paint the picture of what you are leaving behind. Accentuate the problems. Make them look really big and bad in your picture. Show your self what the big bad picture would be like a year from now or 5 years from now if you continued eating your bad diet. Put a lot of feeling into this.
If motivated by what you are moving towards:
Paint a big bright picture of what you will look like and feel like when you have better health. Think about who you love, who loves you and what you want to do and could do when you have good health.
Al, maybe you are not sure where you fit in to this process. Then play both pictures for yourself. Really put some pictures in your head. Use plenty of color. Turn the sound up.
Which Motivated You?
Now which did you feel more motivated to eat the fruits and vegetables and the super foods you need?
Play this picture over and over again as you eat the right foods, especially your vegetables and super food powder.
See, that was not so bad. It is all according to the message you give your self. You are in charge!
Certainly your body thanks you for the better nutrition, and I know you are going to start feeling better and by eating for more energy as you continue to eat the better diet.
In my mind, Al gives me a smile. He is beginning to get the picture. He starts eating more fruits and vegetables, more leafy green vegetables.
